Why a Person Needs Health Insurance

Health insurance is an insurance, that insures a person's health from health related losses, such as need of a big surgery, medical expenses, diagnosis test and lab fees.

Health insurance protects a person from his health losses, like surgeries expenses, medical expenses, doctors consultation and lab expenses.

It helps a person in the following ways,

1. Provides the Cost of Operations
If an individual needs an emergency surgery, and if the cost of surgery is very much high, the individual cannot accommodate all that amount in a short period of time, therefore it becomes a heavy risk for that individual to pay the cost. If the individual has the insurance, then the individual need not worry about the cost. Because the insurance company bears the cost.

2. To Get Benefits on Medical Expenses
If you need the medicines regularly to cure your disease, you have to pay much money for the medical bills. If you are holding a health insurance policy, you will get some percentage of benefits on your medical bills. That means, the insurance firm bears some amount of your medical bill.

3. To get benefits for complete hospital expenses
With the help of health insurance an individual can recover his complete hospital charges, like diagnosis bills, service charges which are laid down by the hospital management and ambulance charges etc,.

4. To get some tax benefits
Health insurance gives some tax benefits to the individual. A tax benefit which is offered for the health insurance is authorized by the income tax of the country.

Health insurance is a must for every individual, and with all the above benefits, it is a very good choice too.

What are the Physical Effects of Drug Abuse on Human Body

Although drug abuse results in mental health issues, taking drugs also show some physical effects on all parts of the human body. The physical effects of these drugs which are abused may be short term or may be long term but they are permanent. With the increase in the frequency of usage of drugs and also using the drugs for longer periods, worsen the physical effects on the body.

According to the National Institute on Drug Addiction (NIDA), the physical effects of drugs on the body depends on the drug used, the method of drug usage, and the frequency and duration. Drug addiction has physical effects on the vital organs of the body.
  • Brain changes from drug abuse include paranoia, hallucinations, memory problems, aggression, depression, seizures, stroke, brain damage etc. These are majorly caused by abusing cocain.
  • Respiratory effects of drug abuse include emphysema, asthma and lung cancer and most of the respiratory problems are caused by inhalants which releases toxic chemicals in to the lungs.
  • Drugs like methamphetamine can cause cardiac effects of drug abuse, which include abnormal heartbeat, collapsed veins and heart attack.
  • Gastrointestinal effects of drug addiction includes nausea, pain in stomach, and liver and kidney damage.
  • Physical effects caused by the drugs are permanent and not reversible. For example infertility caused by steroids and liver or kidney damage.
  • Steroids may even cause hormonal imbalances in the body which may lead to men developing breasts and women growing facial and body hair like men.
  • Drugs that act quickly on the brain may cause rapid loss of consciousness or death.

Drug addiction results in total destruction of body, leaving no chance to repair in most of the cases.

What are the Different Types of Tests Available for Drug Addiction

Addiction is a physical and psychological dependance on psycho active substances. Drug addiction is a state of periodic or chronic intoxication produced by the repeated consumption of a drug. There are five different types of tests available for drug addiction and these tests are used to check the presence of drugs like marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, phencyclidine in the body of drug abusers. Other expansive tests can also detect barbiturates, hydrocodone, Quaaludes, benzodiazepines, methadone, and MDMA.

Urine Test:
This is the most common test used by employers, law enforcement, and at homes. It is less expensive and less invasive than other methods of testing. Urine tests are primarily used to detect drug use within a weeks time, though some have been able to detect use up to 30 days later.

Blood Test:
In this type of the tests blood samples of the addicted persons are collected and these samples are tested for the presence of drugs. Blood tests are the most expensive and invasive method of testing, but they are also the most accurate tests.

Saliva Test:
Saliva tests are also inexpensive and are useful for detecting recent drug use like, within the past few hours or days. They are easy to administer and these tests are becoming more common.

Hair Test:
These tests are used to detect substance use over a longer period of time, usually it may range up to 2-4 months. A sample of the hair which is to be tested must have a size about an inch and a half. These tests costs about $100 to $150 and these tests often check for a wide range of substances, and can provide information about the frequency and degree of drug use.

Sweat Test:
These are relatively uncommon tests, as they require long period of time to get results. Sweat tests are not accurate because surface of the skin is contaminated and these contaminants have a great effect on the readings of the tests.

These different types of tests, using different samples are conducted to know the drug presence. These tests can be conducted in laboratories or by drug testing kits.

Best Practices for Implementing Supply Chain

The supply chain management consists of network of retailers, distributors, transporters, storage facilities and suppliers that participate in the sale, delivery and production of a particular product or service.

The following are the steps for implementing a supply chain management process in a business
  • The first step is to carefully study and understand the organization's suppliers, market share, structure and the distribution networks. Set the vision, strategic and the operational objectives which are realistic and achievable.
  • After planning the next step is selecting the supply chain execution (SCE) system according to the needs. The planning of the organization and decision regarding the selection of the SCE is taken by collecting the information from the partners of the supply chain like vendors, wholesalers and the retailers.
  • Next step in the process is selection of the right team for the implementation of the system perfectly and the team selected should be a cross functional with the personnel from manufacturing, customer service, receiving, inventory control, quality assurance, logistics/transportation and shipping.
  • Before implementing the system it should be tested and the supply chain execution implementation project should have farther reaching effects than just supply chain, so it is critical that every system that has an interface to or from the supply chain execution package is considered when developing the test plan.
  • The personnel involved in operating the system should be trained and the most thoroughly tested system can fall apart if users are not trained enough.
  • The right timing and support is needed for the perfect execution of the system and this support is to be given by the top management to the execution team. Continuous monitoring of the system is required and if the system does not work in the direction as expected, the mistakes should be corrected and the system should be reimplemented.

Supply chain management involves handling of various processes, therefore correct implementation of the supply chain management system only ensures success to business.
