Know About Different Types of Barcode Labels

You might have observed items of a supermarket attached with stickers or labels containing thick black lines and spaces of varied width. These lines and spaces are representation of a barcode and the label is called a barcode label. Barcodes on the items are read by specific devices called barcode scanners. They are used for checking and maintenance of inventory. Single dimension and two-dimensional barcodes are printed on labels by a barcode printer. Symbol barcode and other models include both linear and 2D barcodes.

Labels containing these barcodes are of various types. Some of them are aluminum barcode labels, ceramic barcode labels, and polyester barcode labels.

  • Labels made from aluminum are termed as aluminum barcode labels. These labels can withstand extreme conditions such as wear and tear, abrasion, heat, cold, and chemicals. So the image on the label surface can last for longer periods.
  • Ceramic barcode labels are constructed with ceramic coatings over a stainless steel base. These can be used at places where high temperatures and high chemical compositions are involved.
  • The image of a barcode is embedded in the lower surface of the plastic material in a polyester barcode label. A permanent industrial adhesive bonding is required for these labels.

In addition to these labels, other models of barcode labels are also present, such as, paper barcode labels, floor labels, resin-coated barcode labels, and long-range retro-reflective barcode labels. Most of the inventory items of an organization are attached with resin-coated barcode labels. A specific barcode printer is to be needed to create different types of barcode labels. Zebra printers and WASP printers are some of the models of barcode printers used in a wide range of industries.
